After a day of practically never-ending heavy rain yesterday and a cold night ...
... we woke up to a misty morning - taken to 10 to 8 today
After cruising down to the water point and filling the tank we're ready for Bath Locks - we'll share with the red boat on the right ...
Bath Top Lock Cottage
... ready to leave Abbey View Lock
Looking back at Abbey View Lock ...
... whilst waiting for Wash House Lock to be ready ...
George and the crew from Rorah (the red boat we're sharing with) have gone round the corner to help set the lock ...
... NB Rorah has left Wash House Lock and is waiting for the 2 boats that are coming up Bath Deep Lock to exit it ...
... I'm half in and half out of the lock, don't want to venture out too far as I don't know what the situation is ...
... can't resist it - I've pulled forward a little, climbed onto the stern locker to look around the corner ... there's Rorah pulled in and waiting ...
... after doe-see-dowing with the boats that have come out we're now ready to descend the 2nd deepest lock on the canal system ...
19.5' down and there's a curtain of water coming over the cill behind me ...
... and the huge gates open - as I exit first I see the top gates of Bath Bottom Lock open - someone is coming up ...
... I shout back to Rorah to let our crew know to leave the gates open ...
... for the boat coming up after us - hopefully if there is another boat following us they won't fill the lock before thinking to look down the locks to see what's happening ...
... safely down the bottom lock - we've gathered quite a few gongoozlers (folk who like to watch boats)
