What a cracking few days!

We have loved being moored here just above lock 31E on the Hudersfield Narrow Canal, although we tip slightly every time a boat goes down the lock but it’s soon remedied with a bit of a push!  It’s very tranquil when all the walkers and cyclists have left and there’s lots of good walking to be had and with the good weather we’re having it’s been brilliant!

This is our view through the side hatch - the old lock cottage and garden and I wanted to climb that hill, so off we went.

White bluebells …

… and forget-me-nots adorn the hedgerows …

and the views are outstanding as we climb

Looking towards Marsden in the distance ...

… and down to our mooring

A panoramic view from half-way up the hill

Lots of bilberry bushes in the hedgerows too ...

… and a noisy cockerel over the wall!

Molly had great fun bounding through the long grass (she is after all only about 10” high!)

Oooh, what’s that then - a lovely surprise round the corner …

A good view from here!

and views from the pub’s garden …

… beautiful indeed!

After a really good lunch in a lovely pub served by attentive staff and with a good selection of beers (says George) we’re on our way back down - look there’s now another boat behind Rock n Roll!

Stupendous!

Today, across the winding hole (turning point for boats) at the old lock house there’s someone in the garden …

… working with the bees - she sells all sorts of products which contain beeswax ...

… and Molly just wants to sit in the sunshine on the grass!

This evening the cows have come into the field by the mooring …

 … cute eh?

and a plane is passing overhead.
