Another house

Wightwick Manor (pronounced ‘wittick’) just a few minutes drive from Mark and Ange’s home

Built in 1887 by Theodore Mander

Victorian Architecture and Tudor Revival Architecture

 Fabulous Chimneys too

Photographs were not allowed inside but there are some good ones here.  The internal decoration was amazing with wall coverings and fabrics by William Morris.

The grounds are extensive with lakes and woodland but today it was raining so that’s something to do another time.

  1. This is a property that's very easy to visit by boat. Good moorings just a short walk away of the Staffs and Worcs.

    1. Thanks Adam for reminding me. I should have mentioned that on my blog! We’ve been past here by boat but it never occurred to us that the house was so close - we also used to come past both house and canal on our way to work in Wolverhampton in the distant past!

  2. Lovely photographs. It's just a pity none can be taken inside. The National Trust seem to allow it in some buildings but not others. I would have thought as long aas you don't use flash it shouldn't be a problem.

    1. Glad you like them Charlie Wildgoose! I agree with your comment - I would have loved some pictures from the inside as the house is so unusual being built in the late(ish) 19th century but made to look medieval inside.
