I had decided yesterday morning that we should be 'up and off' but by the time we were up and ready it was pouring down! We then decided to buy another 2-day Thames licence and stay where we were but before that happened the sun came out and we were off!
Turning right onto the Kennet and Avon ...
... from the River Thames ...
... approaching Blakes Lock - self service this morning ...
... a sign of things to come on this river?
Last night we looked out onto the other side of the Prudential building from our mooring
Approaching the town centre ...
... and the Kennet & Avon Canal with those traffic lights ...
... which turned to green in seconds ...
... under low bridges ...
... cruising past the minstrels ...
... into the shopping centre ...
... no stopping here ...
... and looking back from whence we came ...
... soon through ...
... to County Lock, it's weir ...
... and feed time for the birds.
Not a pretty sight is it ...
... this is better, out into the countryside - not sure what this is - obviously a juvenile - any offers?
Eastern end of Reading Jail Loop ...
... and leaving Fobney Lock where we moored on the pillings as the sky grew dark ...
... the reeds/weeds just below the surface ...
... and a decent towpath - we'll definitely stay here until Saturday and then decide whether to move further, or not, as the case may be!
