An evening walk ...

Late Sunday afternoon we went for a walk, it had been raining most of the day and now the sun has come out ...
... the noise from the regatta has ceased so we walked that way passing the heron waiting for the evening racing to start ...

... the lake splits into 2 sections and rowers go up this side pond ...

... to get to the starting lines - this is the 1000 mtr line ...

... the evening sun on the Eton College Rowing Club House at one end of the lake ...
... and the 2000 mtr starting grid at the other end ...
... that's a long way away ...
... rowers enter onto the main racing circuit via the lovely canoe shaped bridges ...

... we've walked up onside of the lake across the top and down the other side - 4 km in all to these standing stones and sculpture - pity there is no explanation of it anywhere ...

... and back to our mooring - we're pulling pins in the morning.

  1. The sculpture is an armiliary sphere, a sort of sundial.

This link should have something about it, if I got it right.
