Off to Windsor

After a lovely weekend at Runnymede ...
... we leave our National Trust mooring ...
... by the Magna Carta Memorial
... past Magna Carta Island where the original document was sealed by King John in 1215 ...
... past this very pretty narrow boat ...
 ... the peerage (?) picnic with a butler ...
 ... and the 'commoners' don't!
 We pass a ...
 ... variety of ...
 ... dutch barges ...
 ... and houses ...
 ... for sale ...
... and boats on stilts - how on earth does he get it down again?
 Approaching Albert Bridge ...
... with its royal crest ...
 ... a royal lodge maybe ...
... so now you know ...
... Prince Consort's Home Farm in the distance ...
... and our first glimpse of Windsor Castle ...
... and the Queen is at home today ...
 ... Queen Victoria's former boat house ...
... with its royal insignia ...
... a slightly different view as we come round the corner ...
 ... don't go there!
... getting closer all the time!
 Victoria Bridge ...
 ... with a coloured insignia
This house was on the right as we went under Black Pott's Railway Bridge - the right-hand side of it is definitely suffering from subsidence.
 A lone mandarin duck ...
... as we approach Windsor Bridge ...
... where there are always lots of feeding the geese and swans and waiting for the French Brothers boat trips ...
... riverside restaurant on the right ...
... and Eton College boat-houses below the bridge ...
... Windsor Castle from our mooring for tonight on the Bocas (the meadow) on land owned by Eton College.

  1. I work in Windsor and live just outside but have yet to see the Castle from the river.
    Great pictures.

  2. Thanks Julie, I'm glad that you like the pictures and that it has given you a different view to the one you probably see every day!
