We upped-sticks on Wednesday 1st June and had an uneventful journey north to moor at Pyrford enjoying another lovely meal at the Anchor pub.
This tree at Newark Lock, has obviously been pollarded very, very recently, it looks a bit sad ...
... but you can see from those opposite the varying sizes as the tree branches grow - this is an especially good technique for crack willow as it stops the larger branches from ever becoming too heavy, cracking and falling down - often across the canal.
The following morning we entered Pyrford Mariana to emptying one tank, fill another and purchase a gas bottle ...
I was told that there were 2 pairs of Jays nesting in the marina trees ...
... so I couldn't resist ...
... taking pictures!
It was a lot easier descending Cox Mill Lock and accelerating through the strong current from the weir
A picturesque river-side dwelling ...
... and a family of Egyptian Geese - strange creatures!
Sunset from the visitor moorings below Shepperton at 9:30 pm ...
... and practically the same scene the next morning at 11:40 before we left to return to Hampton Court.
Great pix, as usual. That sunset looks splendid, as does the Jay. They are crows, I know, but such lovely, secretive and nervous birds.
