How does the garden grow?

Back in August you may remember that George spent a couple of weeks at our son and daughter-in-law’s house to landscape their garden - how is the garden growing now?
The garden has a slope of about 3’ upwards from the house to the back wall and there was a huge cypress in the top right-hand corner which was making the back wall unstable …
…. so the tree and the wall were taken down … and the plans drawn ...

… the builders started to rebuild the wall and the digger arrived -that’s Lucy ‘having a go’ ...
… and they started to dig the trenches ...
 … the wood arrived ...
… and was put in the trenches ...
Lucy became a dab-hand at mixing the cement and work progressed apace
All hands on deck!
Measurements and levels are calculated for the steps up the garden
… and are now in situ ready for the paving.
Norman (father-in-law) with grandson Ed’s help have made a fantastic job of laying the paving stones ...
… and the grouting is perfect!
The lawn area has been levelled, rotovated and tamped down ...
… and Mark (our son) has started to lay the lawn … very exciting!

George and I had hired a car to visit our boat builders and spend some serious money at Midland Chandlers ‘freaky friday’ event and made a surprise visit.

George donned on some rather large old clobber and set too to help with the last few turves ...

Last one in!
Looking good - George doing some sort of dance on the planks to flatten the turf edges to ensure that all the turves are in contact with the ground which in turn will ensure that …  the garden will grow.

Work still to be done … A decking area with a pergola over it will be erected to the right of the large patio in the picture above and the area between the lawn and the house will be levelled and paved… all in good time!

It's looking great. All that hard work has definitely paid off. Aren't you glad that we live a life that means we don't have to maintain one though?

    1. Indeed Jill - not having to cut the grass outside our home is one of our greatest pleasures of boating!
