As we walked around Little Venice yesterday (May 1st) about lunch time 3 fire engines roared across the A40 Westway - there's a big problem somewhere, we thought.
We turned the corner to our mooring, still in Paddington Basin, and saw the fire men at St. Mary's Hospital opposite.
The smoke appeared to be coming from below ...
... the incinerator chimney. One of the firemen climbed over the balcony and down to canal level and back again ...
... they didn't seem to be too concerned and we walked on. About 20 minutes later we walked back into Little Venice for lunch and the firemen had gone, there was still some smoke but it had obviously not been serious; no water had been used, thank goodness. All looked okay when we returned later.
