Red Boards lifted

Just before 11 yesterday morning the lockie at King’s came to inform us that the red boards at Godstow had been lifted.  As we were moored opposite the weir we would be in the ‘crumple zone’ of any boats coming up river who do not compensate sufficiently for the strong cross current we decided to move down there and then!
After checking that Geoff and Mags were also aware (they were) and were ready for the off - here approaching the skewed Godstow Bridge ...
... there’s Seyella waiting and the lock is being set for us ...
We waited by Godstow Abbey ...
for the lock to be ready
A tight fit under Osney Bridge!

The weir at Osney is fierce and it’s not easy to bring a narrowboat into the lock landing especially when there’s already a boat on it!

Looking back at Osney Bridge from the lock landing round that bend doesn’t make it any easier either!
Leaving the lock behind Seyella ...
Approaching Gasworks Bridge and the clouds are gathering ...
... and the rain comes down ...
... and we see the first of probably many large craft ...
 ... coming towards us.

We decided enough was enough and pulled into the visitor moorings above Iffley Lock where this lovely bunch of poppies greeted us!

View around our mooring
 ... this morning ...
... at 7 am.  I think it’s going to be a good day today!
