.... husband George!
A couple of F18 Super Hornets on the approach....
Hercules, I spent 254 hours in these, going to various places, with my bum slung in a canvas seat.....
Japanese KC 767J....never heard of that one!
and again....
Avro Vulcan 558 ( I worked on this one when I was based at RAF Waddington in the 70’s) I suddenly feel very old......
The DHL 767, apparently people were impressed with its flying display, although this is all we saw of it!
VC10, this had just come into service in 1969 as the RAF choice for passenger transportation, I travelled all over the place in these. They have since been modified to take on various roles including air to air refuelling tankers.....
The new Airbus A 400, I almost went to Spain in 2007 to help build these aircraft, it was a joint venture, the same as the Airbus A380 in Toulouse......
and of course, The Red Arrows......
Looking for his mates.....
It was a great day, I also saw the Lancaster, which brought a tear to my eye, mainly because I couldn’t see it on the camera screen to take a photo. Some you win, some you lose.
Thanks George!
The KC767 is a tanker version of the Boeing 767 airliner, as I remember it was up against an airbus for the role as new USAF tanker which it won then it turned out that there was corruption involved and the contract was cancelled.
ReplyDeleteNow you mention it Roger, I seem to recall that. There was also a cry of foul play by the Boeing team when the Airbus A380 won a large chunk of the emerging super passenger plane sales, against the 767. (heavily subsidised by the French Government, although Airbus insisted it was a loan not a subsidy)
