Monday morning we reversed from our mooring in the Lower Basin at Bugsworth Basin, the bridge on the right of the middle is the Lower Basin Arm which currently has stop planks in it and not accessible to boats.
Moore 2 Life is taking on water in the Entrance Basin and Mickey Jay is in the queue!
We don’t want to miss an inch of this interesting place so we are cruising right to the end of the Upper Basin. Here we’re cruising through the Wide looking back along RnR to a group of learner canoeists.
Looking through bridge 60 into the Middle Basin Arm
Passing through the Middle Basin ...
… under the bridge into the Upper Basin ...
Winding (turning) at the very end of the Upper Basin …
… and the Upper Basin Arm
We’ve completing our turn and are now heading back to the entrance of the basin …
…turning left at the junction and continuing on to Whaley Bridge the terminus of the Upper Peak Forest Canal.
… to celebrate!
George and Molly paying attention!
After the celebrations it was time to walk off some of those lovely cakes - the delicious Victoria sponge made and beautifully decorated by Geoff and a squigy tangy lemon cake from Ann.
We walked down to the River Goyt … on the way back up the hill are these standing stones …
… and a great view across the valley to New Mills ...
… and the railway viaduct.
A full and very enjoyable day!
