We left our Clivedon mooring just after 9am on Friday morning ...
... up the narrow channel between the island and the main land ...
... past the lodges ... we’ve a long way to go today ... 19 miles and 8 locks (total of 27 lock miles).
Bourne End where during the night of Tuesday/Wednesday (1st August) whilst moored where that wide beam boat is, some ‘oick’ stole one of my lovely pots which contained a red heuchera plant, a present on our ruby wedding anniversary a few years ago. I just hope that whoever took it did so because they really wanted it.
We saw lots of groups of Red Kites today
I enjoy looking at property from the water wherever we are ... some strange ...
... and some with very grand gardens
Marlow Church spire as we wait for the lock ...
... and SV Alaska actually in steam as we leave Marlow Lock
Happy rowers!
Temple Lock
Hurley Lock
Culham Court ...
... and the Love Shack!
The weir at Hambledon Lock ...
... where this strange craft was exiting.
The Temple on Temple Island ...
... at Henley, which has such a ...
... lovely riverside ...
... and under Henley Bridge ...
... past the busy Angel pub.
Marsh Lock
and diverse ...
... houses.
Through Shiplake Lock where we saw these young students rowing like the wind ...
... under Sonning Bridge, and up the lock to moor on the towpath just above - not the best mooring in the world but it’ll do for one night.
Black Swans welcomed us to though
just look at those curling feathers
The Reading area has been the only one that I’ve seen these beautiful creatures and they do appear to be a little more ‘friendly’ than white ones!
