Under the bridges ...

10am Saturday morning and Geoff is on point duty today ...
Mags waiting for Grant’s Lock to be turned (set ready for her to enter) - and RnR making her escape
Twyford Wharf looks neat and tidy - and that pump out is a good price - pity we don’t need one today!
King’s Sutton Church of St Peter and St Paul in the distance
Motor Truro and butty Draco breasted up at their mooring
What a fantastic sight this was, blue for miles; I’m sure it’s not lavender but I don’t know what it could be - any ideas out there?
Half of this tree is already in the canal and the rest of it will soon follow if these winds keep up!
The Pig Place - we’ve never stopped here, but perhaps we should ...
... it looks an interesting place, selling hot and cold food
Lovely condition old vehicles - Morris Minor  Austin A35 Van and a 250bhp NG (kit) sports car
For the next batch of sausages perhaps?
At Haddon’s Lift Bridge ...
BW (British Waterways) have everything needed for repairing the canal banks
With a little TLC the lock cottage at Nells Bridge could look most impressive
Looking back from Anyho Weir Lock - this is where the River Chertsey (!) Cherwell crosses the canal; the current can be very strong here in times of high water - luckily although the warning board was in the yellow (green - ok; yellow - proceed with care; red - danger), the current was hardly noticeable.
Just turned 3:30 and we’ve moored up for the night ...
... a few hundred yards from Chisnell Lift Bridge.
A dry but blustery day today - not too bad at all.

  1. Hello Sue, the field of blue flowers looks like linseed flowers.

    1. Thanks Pam - I hadn’t realised that we grew linseed in this country - much nicer to see I think, than the rapeseed.

  3. The Pig Place is definitely worth a visit...as well as the farm shop....freshly laid eggs and meat for the freezer etc. Terrific bacon butties. Friendly hardworking owners/boaters.
And I was just passing by!...

  5. Sorry for the late response, catching up, do I get a prize for spotting your second deliberate mistake?

The lovely old van isn't a Morris Minor but is in fact the Austin equivalent the A35, note the flying A mascot on the bonnet.
