A walk to Horseshoe Falls

The basin in which we're moored is the end of the navigable Llangollen Canal so yesterday afternoon we set off to walk the towpath past the end of the canal and onto Horseshoe Falls ...
 ... past pretty cottages ...
 ... energetic, enthusiastic canoeists ...
... a row of terraced cottages with the river to the front and the canal at the rear ...
 ... rowers battling with ...
... the rapids.
The Chain Bridge where the Monks from Valle Crusis Abbey would have crossed the River Dee.
It has been rebuilt twice using the original chains making them the oldest suspension chains in use worldwide.  Denbighshire Council is hoping to restore it yet again.
 The end of Llangollen Canal
Rules and regulations .... I wish some of them were still enforceable!
Horseshoe Falls designed and constructed by Thomas Telford in 1808 to enable water from the River Dee to feed the Llangollen canal

The river comes into the falls from the right

 an interesting wood pile
 a cheeky wagtail
Castell Dinas Bran in the mist ... our destination for tomorrow's walk ...
... and home again.
