Thrupp

The view from our mooring at Thrupp on Sunday morning ...
... by a very pretty row of canal-side cottages.
We set off to shop at the Co-op in Kiddlington and took pictures on the way back - The Jolly Boatman where we ate last night ...
... has a very pleasant outside seating area for those hot, sunny days ...
Thrupp Canal Cruising Club is very well kept ...
... there's Bones boat but no sign of her around today.
We had a cream tea (for lunch) at Annie's Tea Room ..mmm... luuvely!
Pretty thatched cottages on the green by the tea room
The thorn in  Maffi's (Aardvarks & Maffi's Boat) side - the safety rail and flowers Elfansavedi ...
... and that famous wooden stump that lady drivers seem to love to run into with their cars - why didn't they attach these to the beams? (the stumps, not the ladies!)
We received a note from Bones before we were up and about apologising that she'd not been able to get to us yesterday.
The wind had got up during the night gusting up to 35 mph; it had already knocked over one of my flower pots on the roof of RnR and because we'd had our 48-hours on the visitor moorings we decided that we'd move up onto the 7-day slots and sit out the wind hoping to be able to move on on Tuesday.  I sent Bones a note to that effect and suggested that perhaps we could meet on RnR Monday evening.
Not sure what is 'pc'  - but surely of mixed race?? They were lovely all the same!
We set off for a walk along the River Cherwell ...
 ... through 'George's' 'fairy glen'
The bend in the river was 'babbling' ...
 ... and then beautifully calm.
 A lovely walk ...
... we came out into an open field; that's St Mary's Church, Bletchingdon, in the distance
... and continued alongside this lovely yellow field ...
... to rejoin the Cherwell - what a peaceful scene this is.
We get a glimpse of St Giles Church, Hampton Gay on the other side of the river
and back to Rock n Roll
Aubrey's Lift Bridge from the 7-day moorings ...
... and at 18:30 - the sun has set.
Bones managed to get to us Monday evening and we spent a lovely couple of hours over a glass or two of wine swapping stories.  Great to actually meet you at last Bones and hope that we may repeat the experience another time!
