This Wey ...

Just before 7pm on Wednesday after our grandson Adam and pal Sam had headed off for Scotland there was a lot of shouting and laughing outside on the Thames ...

Dragon Boats ...

... there are several racing weekends coming up soon ...

... it’s a pity that we shall not see them ... because ...
... the following morning bright and early we (including Moore 2 Life) upped sticks and set off downstream once more ...

We moored up at Weybridge for the night and this was the view from the galley at 08:30 ...
... and we’re going this wey ... through that little hole in the trees ...
I really don’t enjoy the first two locks on the River Wey ... this is the first on a really, really sharp right-hand bend under a bridge and ...

... the second - Cox’s Mill Lock has a very strong current from the mill which hits the lock landing you can see here which tries to push you over and then ...

... bounces off the landing and tries to push you the other way!  I’m safely in the lock on R’n’R and Chas has his foot down to bring Moore 2 Life in beside me - a perfect manoeuvre Chas - very well done!

We are currently moored at Pyrford outside the busy Anchor Hotel; we’re expecting a Tesco delivery this morning and then we’ll up sticks once more.  For a more in-depth tour so far click here done last year in May.

  1. I must have passed you on the Weybridge mooring on Monday about 10.30am on my way to Hampton Court for a day trip with some visitors. Were you on the mooring there at that time?

I will be back on Stronghold on Friday this week, then off to Teddington on Saturday and Brentford on Sunday. Looks like I missed you yet again!

  2. Hy Ray,
On that Monday morning we moved from Hampton Court at about 9:30 to Runnymead but didn’t stop at Weybridge then. It was the night of Thursday 16th that we were at Weybridge for the night.
We passed Stronghold at her mooring at the pelican at about 10 on the Saturday but she seemed to be all locked up and you weren’t about.
Over the next week or so we’ll continue up the Wey to Guildford and Godalming and then make our way back to the Thames - hope to see you along the Wey somewhere!
