Whilst I caught up with my previous blog, George and Geoff went walking ...
... to the pretty village of Offchurch which takes it's name from Offa, the Saxon King of Mercia whose body is reputed to be buried near here.
St Gregory's Church built in 1115
The remains of King Offa's coffin are reputed to have been found under the porch of the present church
An interesting sundial on the tower
Offa House next door to the church, is a retreat centre who offer conference and meeting facilities to church groups and individuals from the wider community who are happy with their Christian ethos.
